Team Selection Policy
Procedure:
The club is currently trialling a new selection procedure. The revised procedure will be outlined here when it has been finalized.
Criteria:
When selecting teams for a new season each age group shall start with a clean sheet. That is to say; being in a given team in the current season will not automatically see a player selected in the same team for a subsequent season. The Knox Junior Domestic Competition is a graded competition and this is the primary consideration when selecting teams.
With this in mind the following criteria shall be considered in the selection process.
- Team balance
- Ability
- Commitment
- Friendships (where other criteria allow)
The #1 team should be the strongest team that the club can field. Subsequent teams may place increased emphasis on commitment and friendships. In the event of two or more players specifically requesting to play together the request must be in writing, signed by a parent or guardian of each player and directed to the age group co-ordinator. Should the players be of unequal ability the stronger player(s) must be prepared to play in the lower ranked team. The request will only be granted if the selection committee is satisfied that the presence of the stronger player(s) will not have an impact on the grading of the team or any other effect that could be detrimental to the other players in the team.
Release:
Selected teams are to remain confidential until such time as they are officially released by the club secretary.
